DJ Humphries gets his chance to prove he’s the best choice at left tackle

DJ Humphries’ rookie season didn’t go as planned. He was drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, but didn’t play in a single game that year. Many fans began to wonder if he was going to be a bust as a professional.

Year two went much better for Humphries. He started at right tackle for much of the season, and held up pretty well. Then, he wound up playing at left tackle, and did very well. He did well enough to head into this season as the leading candidate to start on the left side.

Carson Palmer struggled under pressure last year, so keeping him comfortable will be important in 2017. That starts at left tackle, and with Humphries. If he takes another step forward, and lives up to his draft stock, it’ll go a long way toward making the Cardinals a contender.
