The Arizona Cardinals came out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game with a loss but also a lot of takeaways

The Arizona Cardinals got off to a great start on Thursday night in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, taking an early 15-0 lead but in the end lost 20-18.  While wins and losses are second fiddle to player performance in the preseason, there is still a lot to be learned from wins and losses.

The Cardinals did some very nice things on Thursday night.  There are other things they clearly showed need to continue to work on.  This is why the preseason exists.

Many fans don’t like the preseason and training camp.  Many players will tell you the same thing. It is a necessary evil in some form though.

Players need to learn to work together.  There was a lot of roster turnover for the Cardinals in the offseason.  Players need the conditioning.  Despite most players coming into camp in good shape, they also need to be in great playing shape.

So with the extra preseason game on Thursday night, the Cardinals had a chance to get some things on film.  Quarterback Blaine Gabbert played a half and rookie quarterback Trevor Knight finished things out in the second half.
