San Francisco 49ers
The Niners played the Cardinals tough in Glendale in 2016, which ended with Arizona winning 23-20. The Niners bring in a new starting quarterback familiar to Cardinals fans in Brian Hoyer.
Hoyer’s numbers aren’t too bad at all. He had 25 touchdown passes and seven interceptions over the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans. His horrible playoff performance in January 2016 lead him out of Houston and to Chicago.
Now he replaces Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick as the starter in San Francisco. Hoyer played for the Cardinals in 2012.
Their bread and butter on the ground is still Carlos Hyde. He must stay healthy though in order for any success on the ground for the Niners.
The Cardinals swept the Niners last season. The first game between the two, in San Francisco, was won with Drew Stanton at quarterback. Let’s hope Palmer is available for this one.
