The Arizona Cardinals first regular season depth chart was released on Tuesday
There will be arguments among us about who should be starting, who should be a backup. That comes up for the Arizona Cardinals particularly with receivers, cornerbacks, and linebackers.
There is also debate who should be the backup quarterback behind Carson Palmer. Should it be Drew Stanton or Blaine Gabbert?
Here is what the Cardinals say is the current depth chart. It is updated to include the newest acquisition on Tuesday, guard Alex Boone.
Offense:
QB: Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton, Blaine Gabbert
RB: David Johnson, Kerwynn Williams, Andre Ellington, Elijhaa Penny
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, J.J. Nelson, Chad Williams
TE: Jermaine Gresham
LT: D.J. Humphries, John Wetzel
LG: Mike Iupati, Will Holden
C: A.Q. Shipley, Daniel Munyer
RG: Evan Boehm, Alex Boone
RT: Jared Veldheer, Ulrick John
TE 2: Troy Niklas, Ifeanyi Momah
WR 2: Jaron Brown, John Brown, Brittan Golden
Not any real shockers there. Overall with the receivers, Fitz is considered one with Jaron Brown two and John Brown three.

You’ll take notice of D.J. Humphries at left tackle and Jared Veldheer at right tackle. Hopefully the move pays off this season.
Defense:
DT: Josh Mauro, Olsen Pierre, Xavier Williams
NT: Corey Peters, Rodney Gunter
DT: Frostee Rucker, Robert Nkemdiche
OLB: Chandler Jones, Kareem Martin
ILB: Deone Bucannon, Haason Reddick
ILB: Karlos Dansby, Josh Bynes
OLB: Markus Golden, Phillip Wheeler
CB: Patrick Peterson, Tre’von Williams
CB: Justin Bethel, Brandon Williams
SS: Antoine Bethea, Tyvon Branch
FS: Tyrann Mathieu, Budda Baker, Rudy Ford
The depth chart on the defensive line shows you just how deep the Cardinals go at the position. Robert Nkemdiche had a great preseason and will be a backup to Frostee Rucker.
First round pick Haason Reddick was thought to be a starter but will be behind Deone Bucannon. Karlos Dansby missed a lot of camp.
Special Teams:
K: Phil Dawson
P: Andy Lee
LS: Aaron Brewer
KR: Kerwynn Williams, Brittan Golden, Chad Williams
PR: Kerwynn Williams, Patrick Peterson, Rudy Ford
Kerwynn Williams may not get a lot of touches with David Johnson getting the workload at running back but he should be a busy man in the return game. Patrick Peterson will back Williams up on punt returns.
The Cardinals have two very good veterans in the kicking game, Phil Dawson and Andy Lee. They played with each other in San Francisco for two seasons. Lee will hold for Dawson on place kicks.
