The rumor that quarterback Andrew Luck could become available may have Arizona Cardinals’ fans hoping that a miracle occurs

It’s a scenario that would certainly fit into the “too good to be true” classification for the Arizona Cardinals. A perfect answer to the ongoing debate about who will be the Cards’ quarterback of the future. A solution that at one time, and perhaps still is, beyond the realm of possibility.

All the same, rumors are circulating that the Indianapolis Colts, the Cardinals’ opponent on Sunday, may be considering the unfathomable. Reports are that the club and their franchise signal-caller, Andrew Luck, could be contemplating a divorce. The thought is that the star passer may be less than thrilled with the talent surrounding him in Indy, and who could blame him?

The Colts are coming off of a blowout loss to the less-than-ferocious Los Angeles Rams this past weekend. Part of the reason for the defeat was the fact that Luck missed the contest because of lingering shoulder problems. Considering the extreme lack of play-makers currently on the Indianapolis roster, it’s possible that the former Stanford University star may not have made that much of a difference had he played anyway.

The Colts are in such dire straits that they’re already being considered a candidate to land next year’s prize quarterback of the NFL Draft, USC’s Sam Darnold. It’s conceivable that the organization could want to get out from under Luck’s exorbitant salary (which averages $24,594,000 a season), and start over with a youngster. Indy’s management has done such an awful job personnel-wise that they most likely won’t be winning a Super Bowl title anytime soon, even with Luck at the controls.

And that’s where Arizona comes in. This campaign will almost certainly be Carson Palmer’s last in the desert. Head coach Bruce Arians guided Luck through his rookie season in 2012, when the Cards’ head man became interim coach of Indianapolis. The two are more than familiar with each other, a match made in heaven if you will.

Luck coming to the Valley of the Sun is admittedly, a pipe dream. The compensation alone would be astronomical. The scenario is surely exciting to think about, nevertheless.
