The Arizona Cardinals host the Dallas Cowboys this Monday night at University of Phoenix Stadium

Now that running back David Johnson is out for a couple of months, the Arizona Cardinals can’t be a one-dimensional offense.  They need a balanced attack from their passing and running game.

That means while you can’t hand the ball to Chris Johnson 20 times in a game, you also can’t have quarterback Carson Palmer throw the ball 50 times either and expect to come away with a win every week. especially against the Dallas Cowboys.

If the Cardinals can get Chris Johnson the ball 15 times on the ground, that would be phenomenal. If they are handing him the ball that many times, that means something is working.

They still need to include backs Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington.  It would also be nice to see the Cardinals use Elijhaa Penny in third and short and goal line situations.

The Cardinals made good use of their tight ends early in the game against the Indianapolis Colts. Both Ifeanyi Momah and Troy Niklas made huge catches in the game.

Certainly the Cardinals are always going to go with block first mentality with their tight ends but this week Jermaine Gresham could be Palmer’s best friend.  He is healthy enough to play this week after sitting out the Colts game.

There is no need to re-invent the wheel here.  The Cardinals won plenty of games before David Johnson got here two years ago.  Everyone needs to get involved though.

The Cardinals should also get at the very least guard Mike Iupati back this week.  While he hasn’t been great, we know he can be.  He will be a huge key to opening up holes for Chris Johnson.

Johnson carried the ball 11 times last Sunday and it does sound like the Cardinals want to get him more carries this week.  So expect at least that many but hopefully they don’t overload him.
