The Arizona Cardinals head into week three of the 2017 NFL season to host the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football

The Arizona Cardinals (1-1) finally get to host a home game.  After two weeks on the road, they return to University of Phoenix Stadium to play the Dallas Cowboys (1-1).

The last time these two teams met in the regular season was in 2014 when the Cardinals went to Dallas and defeated the Cowboys 28-17.  Carson Palmer had three touchdowns passes and Andre Ellington rushed for 95 yards.  Safety Tyrann Mathieu had an interception.

All three figure to play heavily into Monday’s result as well.  Some things don’t change.  It will be game two of no David Johnson at running back for the Cardinals.

Key matchups/players

Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson always has fun matchups against Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant.  Peterson had arguably his best game of 2014 against Bryant.

It had been a trying year for the shutdown corner but Peterson had himself a nice day.  Bryant was held to just two receptions for 15 yards.

Also look for the Cardinals offensive line to improve in both the passing and running game.  They need to do a better job of protecting Palmer and giving him time to throw the ball.  When he is rushed to make a decision, Palmer has not proven himself efficient so far.

The running game was not all that great last week, though running back Chris Johnson did play well in his first game back with the team after being cut. He carried the ball 11 times for 44-yards.
