The Arizona Cardinals travel east to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday

The Arizona Cardinals (2-2) travel east for the third time in five weeks as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles (3-1).  The Cardinals are coming off an overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers 18-15.  The Eagles are coming off a trip to the west coast and a victory over the Los Angeles Chargers 26-24.

The Cardinals and Eagles have both been in close games each week.  Both teams have won their games close.  Sunday should be a good test to see where each team is at this point of the season.

The Cardinals are again nursing injuries and a struggling offensive line.  The Eagles currently lead the NFC East with their lone loss coming on the road to the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL in the Kansas City Chiefs.

Key matchups/players

Do we need to repeat ourselves?  Unfortunately yes.  Last week we said that the Cardinals offensive line needed to step it up.  They didn’t and quarterback Carson Palmer was sacked six times for the second consecutive week.

Now they face a formidable Eagles defense, one that will be without defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.  His injured calf keeps him out a second consecutive week.

The guy the Cardinals offensive line will need to key in on will be defensive end Brandon Graham.  He leads the Eagles with 2.5 sacks so far in 2017.

Palmer against the Eagles secondary will also be a key.  The Eagles have give up three pass plays of 50 yards or more already.  They have three interceptions as team.

Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills has one of those three interceptions.  He also has five passes defensed early on in the season.  If Palmer can buy just even a few seconds of time, he could find guys like J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown down field.
