One game out of first

After all has been said and done, the Cardinals are only one game out of first place in the NFC West.  It doesn’t matter what happened or didn’t happen in the previous five games.

All we need to know is the Cardinals still have a chance to do something with their season.  If they were sitting at 0-5 with a 4-1 Rams teams to look up at, then certainly we likely aren’t discussing any reason to still believe in 2017.

However being one game out of first after week five is a fact.  Its not optimism, its not an opinion. Despite the poor play and the injuries, its the truth.

As I keep saying week in and week out, they don’t tally how well or how poorly you’ve played.  Well, certainly statisticians do, but all that counts in the NFL are wins and losses.

There are no moral victories.  There are no bad losses.  Yes, they lost by 27 on Sunday in Philadelphia, I get that.

They aren’t going to ask by how much the loss was by at the end of the season though.  One point or 50 points, it all counts the same.

So, when we talk about being just one game out despite all the mess, there has to be reason for optimism.  Otherwise, what in the heck are we doing here?
