Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer had surgery on his broken left arm on Wednesday

This much we know, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is going to miss some time.  How much?  We don’t know yet.

According to Mike Jurecki at arizonasports.com, Palmer had his surgery but the Cardinals are going to hold a roster spot for him.  So this likely means no injured reserve.

With the ability to have seven inactive players each week, the Cardinals have the luxury of keeping Palmer on the active roster.  It also means he has a chance to return this season.

While many are ready to give up on the season, some still hold out hope.  Even as the scene appeared bleak to us on Sunday, now if Drew Stanton can tread water for a month or so, maybe there is still a shot.

The Cardinals at 3-4 still have five home games.  Their home games are against the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, and New York Giants.

The remaining Cardinals road games are at the San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, and Seattle Seahawks.  Those are all winnable games.

The question is though can the Cardinals get by.  There is skepticism.  Right now, even with Palmer, the Cardinals have had difficulty scoring at times.

The defense also isn’t getting the job done.  There will likely be a lot of factors going into place when deciding whether Palmer will play against this season when he is healthy enough to do so.

For now, we must believe in the process.  A lot of football still to be played.  While the outlook doesn’t look too shiny, it didn’t in 2014 either.  Stanton lead the team to a 5-3 record in Palmer’s presence.

Best case scenario the Cardinals remain within two games of the division lead heading into December and can bring both Palmer and David Johnson back.  With the way things have been trending for the team in all phases though, it is hard to see all of that taking place, though still a chance it does.
