The Arizona Cardinals are on the bye week in week eight of the 2017 NFL season

As you know, the Arizona Cardinals have lost quarterback Carson Palmer to a broken arm until at least December 24th.  If the Cardinals are still miraculously in the playoff hunt at that time, Palmer would start against the New York Giants.

However given everything that has transpired on the field in the win-loss column and injury, the bye week couldn’t have come at a better time.  Coming off a 33-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the Cardinals have two weeks to prepare for the San Francisco 49ers.

Not only do they prepare with Drew Stanton as their starting quarterback but also they get a chance to rest.  Rest isn’t always what you want coming off a big loss but in this case, it is needed.

This is the last chance to catch a breath until the end of the season.  The Rams are also on the bye this week, so the Cardinals can’t lose more ground to them this week.

The Seattle Seahawks are a game and a half ahead of the Cardinals.  They are at home against a dangerous Houston Texans team, led by rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson.  The Cardinals go to Houston on November 19th and host the Seahawks on November 9th.

The 49ers meanwhile also play this week.  They travel to face the Philadelphia Eagles.  We know how well the Cardinals fared there a few weeks ago.

The rest can help guys like defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche further heal, though he did play against the Rams in London.  Also gives defensive tackle Olson Pierre a chance to do the same thing.

The Cardinals will return to the practice field this week.  They play at the San Francisco 49ers on November 5th and have a short four-day turnaround for their Thursday night tilt against the Seahawks.
