The Arizona Cardinals prepare for their road contest this Sunday at the Houston Texans

There are a lot of questions that surround the Arizona Cardinals these days.  Will Blaine Gabbert or Drew Stanton start?  How many more games will they win?  Is the Bruce Arians era over?

Better yet, who will the Cardinals lose to injury this week?  Last week it was two starters, tackle D.J. Humphries and safety Tyvon Branch.  They also lost tight end Ifeanyi Momah.

Stanton may or may not start this Sunday.  Many believe it will be Stanton but word is he may be working hard to show he can play.  We’ll see.

The Cardinals at 4-5 are a long shot at best now to make the playoffs.  It’s not impossible and their schedule is not impossible.  It is improbable though.

The Cardinals return to practice on Wednesday.  We’ll see how the injury report plays out.  They face a decimated Houston Texans teams as well.

The Texans lost quarterback Deshaun Watson two weeks ago to a torn ACL.  The Cardinals defense will face Tom Savage at quarterback.  He and the Texans lost to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday 33-7.

There are some that want to see the Cardinals tank.  However that guarantees nothing.  These players are playing for pride and paychecks at this point, future paychecks that is.

After this Sunday’s game at Houston, the Cardinals will only have two road games left.  One at the Washington Redskins on December 17th and the other on New Years Eve on December 31st at the Seattle Seahawks.

Regardless of who starts, expect to hear that both Stanton and Gabbert getting first team reps.  At this point, Stanton will likely appear on the injury report but under what status we don’t know.

It may be Friday or Saturday before we know who gets the start on Sunday.  Stanton is coming off a decent showing in a 22-16 loss to the Seahawks.  He went 24-37 for 273-yards and a touchdown last Thursday night.

When and if Gabbert enters the game on Sunday, it will be his first regular season action for the Cardinals.  Be careful what you wish for.
