The Arizona Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams for the second of three consecutive home games

The Arizona Cardinals (5-6) are coming off arguably their most complete game of the season in a 27-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.  They host the Los Angeles Rams (8-3), who currently lead the NFC West.

The Rams are coming off an impressive 26-20 victory over the New Orleans Saints last Sunday at home.  This is the second meeting this season between the Cardinals and Rams, with the Rams blanking the Cardinals 33-0 in London back in October.

Blaine Gabbert will start his third game for the Cardinals on Sunday.  Drew Stanton is healthy enough to play and will be his backup against a team that is closing in on a playoff berth.

Key matchups/players

The Cardinals running game will get get tested big time.  As of Friday, the Cardinals were still not sure who would and wouldn’t be available on Sunday to run.

The Rams shut down the Cardinals running game in London.  They held the Cardinals to just 25-yards on 12 carries.  That was Adrian Peterson’s second game with the team.

Now Peterson’s status is up in the air.  He did not practice this week.  Whoever runs the ball will need help from the offensive line against a very tough Rams defensive line.

The Cardinals defensive line against the Rams offensive line will also be a matchup to watch.  From the linebacker position Chandler Jones had a great day last Sunday.  With the Cardinals defensive line banged up a bit as well, Jones will need to come up big.

Then there is Gabbert.  The Rams saw Carson Palmer early before getting injured before seeing Stanton finish the game out.  Now Gabbert gets his chance to see if he can get the Cardinals some points against the Rams defense this season.
