Arizona Cardinals: Another player sent to injured reserve
By Scott Allen
Just another Arizona Cardinals week at the office with an addition to the injured reserve
At this point the better question to ask is who isn’t on the injured reserve rather than who is for the Arizona Cardinals. Another player has been sent to the ever growing list.
Left tackle Jared Veldheer may have played his last game as a member of the Cardinals offensive line. An ankle injury has sent him to injured reserve.
Veldheer will become the 13th player to make it to the IR this season. It has become a theme too often sung. It’s a song that started in training camp right after the first preseason game with running back T.J. Logan.
The Cardinals just designated long snapper Aaron Brewer to come off of IR. They have one return designation remaining.
As for the Veldheer it has been quite an up and down season. He went AWOL in training camp, contemplated retirement. He came back and started the season at right tackle.

D.J. Humphries started the season at his old position of left tackle. However after Veldheer went on IR last season after the October 30th game at the Carolina Panthers, Humphries was eventually moved to replace him.
Humphries himself on IR now, was injured in the first game this season against the Detroit Lions. That injury wasn’t expected to sideline him long and Veldheer was kept at right tackle, a position he wasn’t that great at.
Humphries returned and kept the left tackle spot until he was lost for the season. Then Veldheer returned to the left tackle position. He played pretty well there for the most part.
Then Sunday happened. With now having his season end early for the second year in a row and his inconsistent play, it does beg the question has Veldheer played his last down for the Cardinals?
Either way, the Cardinals offensive line got better the minute he was signed by the team as a free agent in 2014. We wish him the best in his recovery. We will see what happens.
