2. Phil Dawson game-winning kick

The Cardinals were heading into their Thanksgiving-weekend contest with the AFC South’s Jacksonville Jaguars needing to win to stay in the playoff hunt.  They were returning home for quarterback Blaine Gabbert’s first home start.

Coming off a tough loss to the Houston Texans on the road, the Cardinals came up big in all three phases of the game.  It was arguably the most complete game of the season for them.

Struggling most of the season was kicker Phil Dawson.  However on this day, Dawson went 4-4 on his field goals.

That included a 57-yard kick that many didn’t feel would make it based on Dawson’s history with long kicks and the way he had performed overall.

Tied at 24 with 15 seconds remaining, Dawson nailed the 57-yard attempt.  He probably would have been good from 60 but 61 would be pushing it.  It was that close.

The kick was certainly the highlight of Dawson’s season.  It also kept the Cardinals in the playoff hunt at 5-6.  It was also what many considered the first quality win of the season, playing the AFC South leaders.
