Arizona Cardinals should still be focused on winning

With free agency, NFL Draft, and OTA’s in not too distant future, the Arizona Cardinals should still focus on one thing, winning

The defense is in place for the most part.  The Arizona Cardinals need to decide what to do in the secondary with some players but once this team gets a quarterback, all else should fall into place.

The Cardinals have a running game.  David Johnson will only be in his fourth season. It really only amounts to a third after missing 15 1/2 games last season.  Their offensive line needs some re-tooling and we don’t know exactly how that will look depending on player movement.

The receivers are going to need attention and likely an addition to the tight ends. We don’t know if the Cardinals plan to bring back fullbacks or not?

The defensive line may see a couple of changes.  The same can be said about the linebackers.  We do know guys like Chandler Jones, Markus Golden, and Rodney Gunter, and Josh Mauro, they aren’t going anywhere.

The kicking game will probably change.  The punter?  Andy Lee seemed to get the job done for the most part.  Plus, their injured players will return.  Anyone excited to see T.J. Logan get his shot finally?

The point is the Cardinals do need an eye on the future and getting younger.  However with the return of receiver Larry Fitzgerald, clearly someone convinced him this ship isn’t getting blown up.

There is still a commitment to win now.  As head coach Steve Wilks put it, it is a re-tooling, not a re-build.  A re-tooling means you can still try to win now but at the same time build the future.

That’s where general manager Steve Keim comes in.  It is up to him to bring the right personnel in to make it all happen.

Next: Arizona Cardinals need receivers behind Fitz

It all starts in two and a half weeks with free agency.  If the Cardinals do get a quarterback in free agency, don’t count them out for going for one in the draft either. Doing both would prove they want to win now and in the near future.
