Some were worried the Arizona Cardinals would waste free agency away doing nothing

While not every move has been met with excitement and joy so far, the Arizona Cardinals do need to be commended for not laying down on the first day of free agency.  They have two quarterbacks and reportedly about to get two offensive linemen.

After getting quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon, the Cardinals moved on to get some guys to protect them.  They reportedly are going to sign Andre Smith from the Cincinnati Bengals and also get a visit from Justin Pugh formerly of the New York Giants.

While those guys may not be the Andrew Norwell they were looking for, it is a great sign it appears the Cardinals did have a plan after all.  Plan A may have not worked but a plan is working.

The Cardinals have lost receiver John Brown to the Baltimore Ravens and unfortunately had to cut ties with fan favorite safety Tyrann Mathieu.  Sometimes the business part of things isn’t always fun and games. They are also reportedly losing linebacker Kareem Martin to the New York Giants.

The Cardinals have kept one of their own though.  Linebacker Josh Bynes has re-signed with the team.  He was a pleasant surprise to watch play in 2017.

It will be interesting to see what else the Cardinals will be up to in the coming days.  Receiver and tight end could be two spots they look at making more additions.

With the loss of safety Mathieu and linebacker Martin, they could look to add more players in each of those positions as well.  The good thing is not every move has to be made on the first day of free agency, although it certainly seems like that’s the way it went down.

There is going to be a lot of roster turnover not only in Arizona but the rest of the NFL.  The Cardinals aren’t done though.  It is a new era in the desert.
