Quarterback Sam Bradford officially signed his contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Friday morning

We can moan, complain, tear our hair out all we want.  It will do no good as the Arizona Cardinals have officially now inked quarterback Sam Bradford to a two-year contract.

The Cardinals are going to have an official announcement at 12:00 p.m. Arizona time.  There is video proof that Bradford is in the fold now.

Many of us will continue to be skeptical of Bradford’s knee despite what he says.  He says he has been healthy since November.  Say this for Steve Keim and the Cardinals though, they would not have signed Bradford without doing their homework first.

If anything were to keep Bradford from the playing field now, it would be his performance.  As accurate a passer as he is it would seem only likely Bradford isn’t on the field because of injury.

Certainly many of us would have rather to have seen someone else behind center but when left with few other choices for veteran leadership, Bradford had to be the guy for now.

The Cardinals will likely draft a quarterback for the future and that guy can learn from Bradford.  That will be the one great thing to take away from this.  Even if Bradford isn’t 100 percent physically, he absolutely knows the game and will help a young quarterback.

That has to be the silver lining here.  Sure we know Bradford’s health history tells us he is made of glass but until he gets injured again, he’s the starting quarterback until further notice.

And let’s not get all over Keim for getting Bradford in lieu of safety Tyrann Mathieu.  That’s not how this worked.  We already knew Mathieu would be asked to take a pay cut before the offseason began.

This isn’t a trade of Mathieu for Bradford.  This is a story of a popular, well-liked, but overpaid safety who was given choices to stay who had to be let go because the Cardinals had no one at quarterback and in this market every free agent quarterback is getting overpaid.  It’s a quarterback driven league.

Next: Arizona Cardinals need to sign a cornerback immediately

We welcome Bradford to the Birdgang.  Let’s all hope for the best even though we will all be in fear of the worst every time he steps on to the playing field.
