While the Arizona Cardinals haven’t made the moves some of their NFC West rivals have this offseason, they aren’t destined to be a doormat either

With the realization that pickups like Sam Bradford, Mike Glennon, Justin Pugh, Brice Butler, and Andre Smith don’t blow fans away, it is still something.  The Arizona Cardinals are trying despite what it may look like everytime the Los Angeles Rams pickup another name.

After the Rams got receiver Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots on Tuesday, it was the same old rants from Cardinals fans.  Why aren’t they doing more?

What more would you like them to do?  They got arguably the best quarterback left in the free agency class with Bradford.  Sure, he has the injury history.  Outside of that though, he’s one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the NFL.

Friends, they are trying.  Also, these teams like the Rams have money to spend.  Being a losing franchise over the years allowed them to free up cap space.  It allowed them the opportunity to gather draft picks.

On the flip side, you have a Cardinals team that went 8-8 last season thanks to a defense that comes back mostly in tact.  Remember Chandler Jones? Yeah, not going anywhere.

The Rams are seemingly making a number of aggressive moves this offseason, including trading their number 23 pick to the Patriots for Cooks.  They had that luxury right now.

The Cardinals don’t have the luxury of sending that pick to another team.  Unless of course they are using to trade up in the draft.  They need a franchise quarterback.

There are those that believe the Cardinals won’t even use their first round pick on a quarterback.  The Cardinals have said nothing to make me believe otherwise though.  It would seem quarterback is still the target.

The reality is with what’s left in free agency, it isn’t much.  Yet, fans wish to complain anyway.  I  say go ahead.  Not many gave the Cardinals a shot at 8-8 last season with injuries.

Sure, they might have difficulty winning a division in 2018 but anything can happen on any given Sunday.  Buying a team through free agency and trades doesn’t always work.

Next: Division title not in Cards for Arizona in 2018?

Let the process play out.   The Cardinals might just surprise you.
