Much has been made about Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen being mentored but there is another offensive position where same will happen

Yes, the Arizona Cardinals have a franchise quarterback.  Yes, Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon will mentor Josh Rosen.  There is another offensive position where the same should happen.

At receiver, 15-year veteran Larry Fitzgerald has the chance to do the same with rookie Christian Kirk.  Kirk grew up watching the Cardinals from his home here in the Valley.

He was one of the top college football receivers in this year’s draft.  He could end up being a steal from the second round.  Now he also gets to learn from the game’s best.

Kirk will likely take up a slot position while Fitz is still around and also long after.  It is the long after the Cardinals should be concerned with.

Does Kirk posses the talents to be a super star like Fitz?  Maybe, but at the very least he has the chance to learn from the best while playing with the best.

Maybe it is just me, but getting to learn while playing with the future Hall of Famer should help build a foundation for a great career for Kirk.  The pressure is off to be great early and learn from the man considered to be one of the greatest ever.

Kirk could become that number one receiver some day.  It could be as early as 2019 or 2020 once Fitz truly does hang it up.  Fitz has not committed to anything other than 2018 at this point.

Fitz has ridden the fence on retirement for two years now only to come back for at least another season.  Those days will eventually run out and Fitz will truly retire.

This is what makes the drafting of Kirk so important now.  If Fitz had decided to retire after last season, the Cardinals could still have taken Kirk with their second round choice but certainly the mentoring part of things could have been left in question.

Next: Arizona Cardinals fullback position battle

We should find out pretty quickly just how much Kirk will learn from watching Fitz and playing with him as well.  Kirk should be a big part of the offense in 2018.
