Arizona Cardinals will get another shot at home Super Bowl
By Scott Allen
It is being widely reported the NFL is about to award another Super Bowl to the home of the Arizona Cardinals
The NFL on Tuesday is expected to vote to have Arizona host the Super Bowl in 2023. It would be the fourth big game the Valley of the Sun has hosted since the Arizona Cardinals moved to the desert 30 years ago.
It really shouldn’t come as a shock. That was the next open date and when the time came to vote, Arizona had to be on that short list.
They will not have to bid for the game anymore, instead being in a rotation. With additional cities like Los Angeles and Las Vegas coming on board over the next few seasons, it might be every 10 years or so that University of Phoenix Stadium plays host.
Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 was the last big game to be played in Glendale. Now they will be hosting again just eight years later. They also hosted Super Bowl XLII in 2008.
Sun Devil Stadium started it all with Super Bowl XXX in 1996. Each time the Valley has done a great job hosting the game.
Now, wouldn’t quarterback Josh Rosen and the Cardinals look good being the first team to play the Super Bowl at home. The Minnesota Vikings came close last season.
The Cardinals came closest after the 2014 season. However they bowed out in the Wild Card game to the Carolina Panthers.
Now, it would be nice to see the Cardinals make the Super Bowl much earlier than the 2023 game. With their current roster, chances are it won’t be in 2018 but certainly with the young roster they are building, it is conceivable they could be there soon.
Still, it would be quite a story if Rosen could bring the Cardinals a home Super Bowl. That is still five years down the road however.

For now, let’s just hope they can win games with Sam Bradford before Rosen takes over full time in a year or two. For now, let’s just look forward to Tuesday’s big announcement.
