As we’ve speculated, the Arizona Cardinals are never done trying to upgrade the roster

According to reports, the Arizona Cardinals are hosting safety Tre Boston.  Safety is a position we’ve not touched on much this offseason.

The main reason for that is what focus we did have on it centered around losing Tyrann Mathieu to the Houston Texans in March.  The cornerback position has been more on the radar of the team and fans.

Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks has a lot of familiarity with Boston.  He played for Wilks with the Carolina Panthers from 2014-2016.  Last season Boston played for the Los Angeles Chargers.

It was last season in Los Angeles though Boston arguably had his best season as a professional so far.  Boston had a career-high in interceptions, passes defensed, games played and started, and tackles.

In that 2017 season, he had five interceptions and eight passes defensed.  He started 15 of the 16 games he played in.  He also had 76 tackles.

Boston was a backup player for his first two seasons in Carolina.  However he started 10 of the 15 games he played in 2016.  That season he also picked up two interceptions along with seven passes defensed.

Is he someone the Cardinals could land and put up numbers similar to those he put up last year for the Chargers?  That is what Arizona would be counting on.

Guys like Boston though, why hasn’t someone with that production landed a spot with a team yet? Whatever the case he is certainly worth the look.  They just need to be careful to get him at the right price.

He will add depth for sure.  With Budda Baker and Antoine Bethea however, it could be difficult to find a starting spot.  After those two though, Rudy Ford is the best backup they have as all three behind them are rookies.

Next: Arizona Cardinals receiver Kirk off the hook

Having another veteran presence on the field would go a long way to improving the group.  Hopefully the two day visit proves fruitful for both parties.
