The Arizona Cardinals added a veteran to the receiver room this past week
What you see today certainly may not be what you see in September, however given what the Arizona Cardinals have now, there is a good chance of this being as good as it gets. The Cardinals have 12 receivers currently on their roster.
As pointed out previously, Cardinals general manager Steve Keim is always looking to improve the roster. The receiving core is no exception.
The Cardinals have a lot of uncertainty at the position both present and future. This could be Larry Fitzgerald’s last season but right now he is just playing it year to year.
Someone is going to have to step forward and be the guy. They certainly have talent. What will that talent do for the Cardinals though?
They signed Greg Little this past week. He hasn’t played in a regular season game in three years though. So the jury is out on him.
The other question is once it is all said and done, how many receivers will the Cardinals carry in 2018? Will it be five? Six? It is difficult to see much more than that given the team’s direction move to more of a running game.
Here is one prediction on how it will play out:
1. Fitzgerald
2. J.J Nelson
3. Brice Butler
4. Christian Kirk
5. Chad Williams
6. Greg Little
The other six guys on the roster at receiver may have something to say about it but Little being added certainly changed some things, for now. It is all about what you’ve done for me lately though.
Carlton Agudosi, Trent Sherfield, Rashad Ross, Corey Willis, C.J. Duncan, and Jalen Tolliver will all get their looks. Then again we though Cobi Hamilton could have a shot as recently as a week ago and he’s gone.
Next: Arizona Cardinals thankful Andy Lee came along
Then again, we may even see a couple of new faces in the room before training camp even starts in July. A first glance at the room doesn’t scream out amazing but then again it is likely better than many believe.
