The Arizona Cardinals appear to still be in the market to making additions at the safety position

It would seem the Arizona Cardinals are not done shopping for safeties.  They have six on the roster currently.

A couple of weeks ago they had free agent safety Tre Boston in a weekend visit.  The visit was reportedly fine but he left without a contract.

News came out over the weekend as to why he left without a contract.  He was nowhere near happy with the offer he receiver.  He felt disrespected according to reports.

Not sure what he plans on finding elsewhere but maybe he really didn’t like the competition he was up against.  Or maybe he felt his offer should have been much better because he felt like he is much better than what the Cardinals currently have on the roster.

The Cardinals six safeties are Rudy Ford, Antoine Bethea, A.J. Howard, Zeke Turner, Travell Dixon, and Budda Baker.  Either way based on that, it is interesting the Cardinals weren’t able to come to terms with Boston.

The way it is shaping up right now, it would be a good guess to say only Bethea, Ford, and Baker are shoe-in’s for the roster.  After that, the other three may not be around after August.

Bringing Boston in says all we need to know.  The Cardinals aren’t willing to give camp a go with just these six safeties.  If they don’t have another safety by the time camp starts, one likely is in soon thereafter.

Bethea was a nice free agent surprise last year and Baker seems like a second round steal from the 2017 draft.  Ford also starts his second year and should hear his name called more often this season.

There’s not a lot the free agent market has to offer at safety right now.  That could change and don’t be surprised if they pounce on a veteran that might be let go from another team.
