David Johnson
First of all, the man needs to actually be here participating in camp. He has not ended his holdout as of yet.
His holdout started the week of the team’s mini-camp in June. Since then there has been no movement from either side in working out a contract extension that Johnson wants before he steps on the field again.
All that aside, once he returns, let’s remember the Cardinals spent 15 and a half games without him last season after he broke his wrist. Yes, he was deemed 100 percent in OTA’s.
However he is someone that as long as he is in condition, he doesn’t need many reps to be ready for the regular season. The preseason should be saved for guys like rookie Chase Edmonds and second-year player T.J Logan, who missed all of last season with the same injury as Johnson.
Grab him a few reps when he returns but coaches should already know what he can do. Maybe if just to get something on tape within the new offense that coordinator Mike McCoy has put together.
