One publication believes the Arizona Cardinals made a mistake taking Josh Rosen at number 10

Let’s get this out of the way first.  The Arizona Cardinals did not make a mistake taking Josh Rosen with the number 10 pick of the first round in the 2018 NFL Draft.

However, one publication, isportsweb.com, believes the Cardinals did make a mistake.  They believe given the entire package the Cardinals had no business moving up to 10 to grab him.

Well, when you haven’t selected a franchise quarterback in the first round in 12 years, sure, the gamble is worth it.  No, we don’t know how Rosen will turn out but the Cardinals made the right move.

We don’t know how any player will perform no matter if he is the number one pick of the draft or the 256th pick of the draft.  Until that guy hits the playing field, it’s all a guessing game for the most part, only based on past experience.

This publication however believe the Cardinals should have considered themselves set after signing Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon.  Well then that writer likely hasn’t followed the careers of those two quarterbacks very well then.

He also might not be aware of the Cardinals luck with quarterbacks since they’ve moved to Arizona.  Forget the off the field stuff.  Forget the numbers.

Rosen is considered by many the most NFL-ready among the top five quarterbacks taken in this years draft.  Given Bradford’s health and Glennon’s performance history, it was smart to not chance it and take Rosen at 10.

After other quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield were off the board.  There weren’t a lot of choices left.  Rosen was projected to go higher.

There’s that word though, projection.  Projections are just guesses when boiled down to the simplest terms.  So in the end, this writer may end up being right.

For now, I will respectfully disagree with him.  The Cardinals took a chance on Rosen.  They took a chance on a guy named Tyrann Mathieu five years ago after much off the field trouble in college.

Next: Arizona Cardinals should see value in Fantasy players

Mathieu seemed to work out alright, save for the injuries he suffered.  We just don’t know how a guy will play out until he is put on the field.  For now, I side with the Cardinals decision to help secure their future at quarterback.
