He may currently be the backup to Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback Sam Bradford but expect to see a lot of Josh Rosen in the preseason opener
It’s preseason week one in the NFL and for the Arizona Cardinals. That means few starters and a lot of backups seeing action in the first game.
The Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. For those wanting to see rookie quarterback Josh Rosen, this is a great chance to do so.
Word is Sam Bradford will get the start but won’t play long at all. If he goes more than one series, I would be very surprised.
Rosen is going to get most of the reps on Saturday night. Word of warning, it’s preseason. Let’s not get too high or too low on him after one game.
It will give many fans their first opportunity however to see Rosen perform in a Cardinals uniform. Hopefully it is just the first performance of many to come down the road.
Bradford does need to see some game action but not enough to put himself in any danger of getting seriously injured. For the most part we know what he can do, it’s just a matter of how he does it with his new weapons.
There will be mistakes made by Rosen and this is his chance to learn from them. When the game doesn’t count and the Cardinals can play around with what they allow him to run with on the offense.
Likewise should he make some great plays, and many expect him to do so, remember these are going to be vanilla defenses he will be tested against. The game changes a bit once they lace them up for real on September 9th.
Either way, it will be good to see the Cardinals face someone other than themselves for the first time since December 31st. This will be just one of two preseason home games for the Cardinals.
