A triumvirate of rookies will be vying to show the Arizona Cardinals that they deserve to be heavily involved in the offense

For the first time in years, the Arizona Cardinals preseason promises to be quite a compelling one. Intrigue is high, due in part to the arrival of a new coaching staff in the desert. There’s something else that is bound to pique the interest of the team’s fans, as well.

There are a trio of Cards rookies who almost certainly will be garnering a load of attention once the action gets underway. Talented scoring threats who would love nothing more than to bogart as many offensive snaps as possible in 2018. Each one having the potential to play key roles in new coordinator Mike McCoy‘s game plans.

The talk of Arizona’s offseason has undoubtedly been their first-round pick, Josh Rosen. The former UCLA quarterback has impressed onlookers, and appears to be ready to excel at the pro level. “Chosen Rosen” has displayed a ton of confidence from the get-go, and the Cardinals are hoping that his play will match his high opinion of himself.

For now, free agent signee Sam Bradford is the starter, and could remain the top dog for the entire 16-game schedule. There’s a plan in place to get Rosen a boatload of snaps before the games begin to count, however. The Cards young signal-caller will be giving observers a glimpse of what the future could hold with his performance over the next few weeks.

Christian Kirk, the club’s second-round selection, has a shot at winning Arizona’s number-two wide receiver job. Like Rosen, the former Texas A&M wideout has been promised a lot of playing time this month. Kirk has the talent and drive to be in the starting lineup when the Washington Redskins visit University of Phoenix Stadium on opening day.

Fourth-round pick Chase Edmonds’ goal is to take some touches away from David Johnson, the Cardinals’ superstar running back. The former Fordham University standout has caught the attention of the organization with his NFL-ready skill set. With Johnson most likely seeing limited action during the preseason, Edmonds should have plenty of opportunities to showcase his ability.

On paper at least, the Cards 2018 draft class looks like a winner. The front office added three offensive weapons who could very well become a vital part of the squad’s scoring attack. All that’s left now is for the threesome to prove themselves on the field.
