The Arizona Cardinals training camp ended after just under three weeks in Glendale

If you blinked, you may have missed Arizona Cardinals training camp 2018. Wednesday was the last day.

Every year seems like a different beast when it comes to training camp.  This one, the first under new head coach Steve Wilks, had a bit of everything.

There were the open practices indoors as usual, inside University of Phoenix Stadium.  But not all of them were in the afternoon as they had been in the past.

Some practices were in the morning, a change back to how some practices were in years past at camps in Flagstaff.  Some practices were closed to the public and held outside.

Those outdoor practices were meant to build mental stability.  Clearly they weren’t to prepare for hot games.  The Cardinals will have the roof closed for all high temperature home games.

The Cardinals lost a couple of players for the season along the way.  They lost starting center A.Q. Shipley during the Red-White practice on August 4th.  They also lost linebacker Jeremy Cash last Saturday night in the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

One of the reasons for the shorter camp that Wilks provided makes a lot of sense.  He wanted to get the team back to its facility in Tempe to start getting into a regular routine to prepare for the season.

Of course the Cardinals still have 37 more players to cut between now and then but why not prepare all of them?  As of right now, they still all have a shot.

Training camp could see some differences next year but there is plenty of time to decide on what if anything will be changed.  Certainly I think fans would love to have more face time with the team.  Camp is always a great time for fans of all ages to get to see the team in action for free.
