The Arizona Cardinals come out of New Orleans with a well-earned preseason victory over the Saints

Ok, so that was a lot more fun than the first preseason game.  For the Arizona Cardinals there are a lot of takeaways, many positive, from their victory over the New Orleans Saints Friday evening.

Starting quarterback Sam Bradford was perfect in the passing game.  He went 6-6 for 61-yards.  He did not throw a touchdown but lead the team on a David Johnson scoring drive.

Speaking of Johnson, he carried the ball six times.  He amassed just 22-yards but had the impressive touchdown run in the second quarter.  He was helped by a huge push from his starting offensive line.

The first unit offensive line was once again impressive, save for a couple of false start penalties.  The pass protection was great for Bradford.

It was also very good for backup quarterback Josh Rosen.  Rosen had a much better night than his debut last Saturday night.  He went 10-16 for 107-yards and his first touchdown.

Rosen, who played with the first team offensive line, got excellent protection on his touchdown throw to receiver Christian Kirk, who made his first receiving touchdown grab as a professional. Hopefully there is much more of that to come in the future.

As for the defense, they came up with four turnovers from the Saints.  They had a great shot at a couple of other balls put on the ground.  They now have eight takeaways through the preseason’s first two weeks.

Chad Kanoff came in to play the entire second half at quarterback.  He went 5-10 for 43-yards.  Mike Glennon did not play at all, which could be telling for his near future.

Kirk caught four balls for 49-yards.  Also impressive from a reciving standpoint was second-year player Chad Williams.  He caught three passes for 44-yards.

Overall a better game.  There are still some things to clean up such as the penalties.  They had a whopping 13 of them Friday night for 110-yards.  The Saints only had three penalties on the evening.
