Matt McCrane

He kicked very well in preseason.  Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks even said as much on Friday when it was confirmed he was let go in favor of veteran Phil Dawson.

McCrane may very well get picked up by someone else and not clear waivers.  He had a couple of long accurate field goals in the preseason.

At what point though do the Cardinals decide to make a change if Dawson struggles?  Dawson is in his 20th season yes but that isn’t why he wouldn’t succeed.

McCrane is a fresh face and seems ready to take over the job.  So if he does happen to clear waivers the Cardinals should use on of their 10 practice squad spots on a kicker.

No one should have an issue with this.  So if Dawson struggles or gets injured, they have someone in house already to take over and its someone who is now familiar with the team.
