Alec Bloom

When the Cardinals decided to bring Jermaine Gresham off the PUP list the writing was on the wall.  In this offense, Gresham is the number one tight end.

The Cardinals don’t need more than three tight ends in the offense they are running.  However having a fourth tight end on the practice squad is the smart move.

Bloom may have not made this team even if Gresham didn’t return.  He may have snuck in as the the third tight end but it’s a moot point now.

That said, Gresham is coming off an Achilles injury.  Ricky Seals-Jones still has less than one season under his belt.  So it’s not like if they did decide to bring Bloom back that he may not get a chance at some point this season.

It is highly lucky if Holmes doesn’t perform or if something happens to one of the top two guys, Bloom will be called upon.  Certainly keep your eyes open for this possibility.
