The Arizona Cardinals kept just three tight ends on their 53-man roster

Over the Bruce Arians years, the Arizona Cardinals routinely would keep at least four tight ends on the 53-man roster from week to week.  Granted this was without a fullback but it was still a larger room in the past.

Now with new head coach Steve Wilks, the tight end room has shrunk.  It is interesting given that much of what we saw in the preseason from the offense was a short passing game, when they did decide to air it out.

Of course we didn’t see close to anything we will see in the regular season.  This is one of those positions right now I just don’t know how it will play out in offensive coordinator Mike McCoy‘s offense?

What we do know is all three tight ends on the roster played with the Cardinals last season, so at least they all know each other.  Now it is time for them to get used to three new quarterbacks on the roster.

They will still continue to be counted on for blocking, just as always.  They aren’t going to blow away anyone offensively.  They should be good enough to get the job done though.
