Deatrick Nichols

If there was ever a player who worked hard and came out of nowhere to find a spot on a 53-man roster, it was Nichols.  He had a very nice camp and preseason.

Nichols, a rookie free agent out of South Florida, showed he deserves a chance at showing what he can do at this level.  The last couple of years the Cardinals have only kept four cornerbacks but given the new defense here, they kept five.

It looks like the Cardinals made the right decision here based on the preseason depth chart.  Not sure how much Nichols will be given a chance to play at corner this season but he will be learning under the best with Peterson in the same room.

Being fifth on the depth chart also should keep him on his toes.  If the Cardinals find themselves short at another position and need a spot, they could reduce their depth at this position by one to make it happen.  For now, let’s enjoy watching Nichols grow.
