The Arizona Cardinals have dealt with a lot of adversity over the first half of the season leaving now a good time for a break

After the Arizona Cardinals were shelled by the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football on October 18th, they fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy on the morning of the 19th.  It was a long 10 days between games.

We had to deal with the Patrick Peterson fiasco where he wanted to be traded.  He confirmed through so many words he wanted out but had talked with team president Michael Bidwill and was promised the Cardinals are trying to win now.

There has been speculation about the future of head coach Steve Wilks.  Does he make it past this season?  Does he make it out of this season now given McCoy‘s departure and what seems like a lost locker room.

The team had to deal with the fact they were dealt their worst loss since 2012.  The Broncos game eerily reminded Cardinals fans of the 58-0 blowout handed to the team by the Seattle Seahawks in that 2012 season.

The Cardinals seemingly made a good move by promoting Byron Leftwich to offensive coordinator.  You could notice little differences here and there throughout the game with him making the play calls.

What we saw in the fourth quarter Sunday was what we’ve been waiting to see all season long.  Moving the ball.  Drives of 73 and 75-yards, and another that was moving along at 36-yards until tight end Jermaine Gresham fumbled.

Now they have two weeks to prepare for a game no one is giving them a chance in, a shot at the AFC-leading Kansas City Chiefs, at Arrowhead Stadium.  All we can say is good luck.

But they get that two weeks to prepare.  It still likely doesn’t help change the possible outcome but it still gives the team to plan and prepare a game plan and continue to work on the things that worked and also didn’t work on Sunday.

They play five of their final eight games on the road.  They are at Kansas City, Los Angeles Chargers, Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, and Seattle Seahawks.  A gauntlet of teams.

Their last three games at home are against the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, and Los Angeles Rams.  They may be able to compete in the games against the Raiders and Lions.

So it appears 4-12 is staring this team in the face, maybe 5-11 or 6-10 if things fall their way. They have a lot of work to do.  They have time to heal a bit before they get back at it on November 11th.
