The Arizona Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams in their 2018 season home finale
Thankfully, the bleeding is almost over. The Arizona Cardinals will finish out the home portion of the 2018 schedule on Sunday as the Los Angeles Rams pay a visit to State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
It could be the last game at home for receiver Larry Fitzgerald. We don’t know and we won’t speculate here. We will all find out together in due time in the next month or so.
The game will be on Fox 10 in Phoenix on Sunday with Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis on the call. The Cardinals lost to the Rams 34-0 in their first meeting in Los Angeles in week two.
The Cardinals haven’t gotten any better since except Sam Bradford started the last game against the Rams and now Josh Rosen will start. Rosen’s start by the way has been a point of discussion between fans and media for the past six days.
Rosen was lifted in favor of backup quarterback Mike Glennon last Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. So had hoped the Cardinals would leave Rosen on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
Not to be. Head coach Steve Wilks, who also may be coaching his last home game for the Cardinals, said Rosen will start because he needs the reps.
While it is hard to argue that Rosen needs the reps, it is also not necessary to jeopardize his health in a game that means nothing for the Cardinals as far as the standings go. And no, a better draft pick is not a meaningful enough thing here.
If the Cardinals lose on Sunday to a Rams team that has struggled over the past couple of weeks, they are one step closer to claiming the number one draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, there are going to be 46 players on the field Sunday trying to work for their own jobs, not for others.
If the Rams get a large lead by halftime, you may see them sit guys like Todd Gurley and even Jared Goff. We shall see. Running back Justin Davis and Gurley are listed as questionable.
For the Cardinals, seven players are listed as questionable. They include defensive end Markus Golden, cornerback Patrick Peterson, tight end Ricky Seals-Jones, and receiver J.J. Nelson.
