Fear not as the Arizona Cardinals will finally end a disaster of a 2018 season this Sunday

Pretty much from the get go, the Arizona Cardinals were a mess this season.  They lost 24-6 to the Washington Redskins and have managed to put up three wins in the standings since.

They end the season this week in the same place they ended last season, in Seattle to face the Seattle Seahawks.  Don’t look for a miraculous win like they pulled off last season up north.

This Cardinals team heads into the final week of practice injured, beat, and nothing like the team they broke camp and started the season with. Right now the Cardinals have 16 players on injured reserve, roughly one-third of a team.

The offensive line took yet one more hit this week with the addition of tackle Korey Cunningham to injured reserve.  Why not?  The only starter not to find his way to injured reserve this season was center Mason Cole, who started as a backup but was quickly named a starter after A.Q. Shipley went down early in camp.

There will be a lot of evaluation to take place over the next several weeks.  It is a little over two months until free agency starts.  The NFL Draft is four months away with the Cardinals locking in the number one pick with a loss this Sunday.

Don’t look for any miracles this week.  The Seahawks still have playoff positioning to play for.  If they secure the fifth seed, they still have an outside shot at hosting a playoff game.  A win for the Seahawks sends them to Dallas next week.

If the Seahawks lose, they could end up playing the Chicago Bears or Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round.  As for the Cardinals, the first order of action expected is the future of head coach Steve Wilks.

Next. Cardinals need more from tight end position. dark

There will be a lot of speculation between now and then.  Right now, let’s just hope the Cardinals don’t suffer any major long term injuries in the season finale.
