Arizona Cardinals: Seven round mock draft
By Scott Allen
Round 6, pick 6 – (166th overall) – Bobby Okereke, LB, Stanford
The Cardinals moved up from the seventh round a few weeks ago after they traded with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs hired Bruce Arians as their new head coach, the Cardinals still owned his rights after his retirement.
For compensation, they got Tampa’s sixth-round pick and gave them their seventh. The Cardinals have a chance to get another player in the sixth round, just five picks after their first sixth round pick.
Why not go back to the biggest area of need at linebacker? The selection of Okereke makes a lot of sense here.
He had 96 tackles last season, 3.5 of them for sacks. He forced two fumbles and recovered one. He also had five passes defensed. He had similar numbers in 2017.
He’s consistent. That is a word that has been missing from the description of this unit for quite sometime. The All-Pac 12 honorable mention could end up being more than that in his move to the NFL.
