Multisport superstar Kyler Murray will meet with Cardinals brass at the NFL Combine.
2018 Heisman winning Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray confirmed that he will meet with the Arizona Cardinals during the interview period at the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday. The Cardinals currently have the number one pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
It will be interesting to see if the Cardinals meeting with Murray is legitimate interest in the quarterback, or a smoke screen to lure a quarterback-needy team such as the Jaguars, Giants, and Dolphins into proposing a massive trade offer for the rights to claim Murray for themselves.
The Cardinals look to have their quarterback of the future in Josh Rosen, the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Although he struggled at times during the 2018 season, he played behind a middling offensive line and played in an anemic offense that featured two offensive coordinators who struggled to get the team going.
However, the Arizona Cardinals could have a legitimate interest in Murray, as new head coach Kliff Kingsbury is a fan of his, most notably, he said he would take Murray number one in October if he had the opportunity to do so.
It’s worth noting that Murray will not be participating in drills at the combine, and will instead do so during his Oklahoma Pro-Day. He measured in above expectations on Thursday, as he posted a height of 5-10.1, 207 lbs, and 9.5-inch hands.
It will be interesting to monitor this situation between the Arizona Cardinals and Murray as the draft season is in full effect in 2019.
