The Arizona Cardinals released arguably their best linebacker in 2018 on Tuesday

It’s understandable the Arizona Cardinals want to rid themselves of as much of the 2018 season as possible.  A 3-13 season will tend to do that to teams.

However the Cardinals may end up regretting the move they made on Tuesday.  The released linebacker Josh Bynes.

Most believe the move was made in order to clear space for some top free agents.  Maybe a CJ Mosley or a Brandon Marshall?

Here’s the thing, they might want to make sure they land one of those top linebacker free agents.  Bynes had 75 tackles and two sacks in 11 games last season.

The space had to be cleared first however.  That is the risk taken with a move like this.  Bynes shouldn’t be on the market too long though.

The move may not have been made to clear space for just linebackers though.  The Cardinals as we all know have many needs when it comes to free agency and the draft.

The will be in the market for receivers, offensive linemen, defensive lineman, and maybe even a tight end.  It will be interesting to see if they do anything else for now in the defensive secondary after the addition of Robert Alford last month.

If the Cardinals don’t come up with a decent replacement for Bynes, it could be a long offseason despite what could happen at the draft in April.  For now until they start signing free agents, we will trust they know what they are doing.

So much to read into this but it had to be more about the Cardinals than Bynes here.  He will be missed.  We wish him the best in his free agency.

Next. 4 impact players that could fall to Cardinals. dark

Only eight days until the opening of free agency and six days until teams can start talking to other players.  Oh what a time to be alive.
