The Arizona Cardinals are starting to build their final draft board with a few private workouts.

While free agency frenzy has taken the NFL landscape by storm, teams are using their private meetings to get a better grasp of just who prospects are. One such team is the Arizona Cardinals, who own the top pick in the draft and need to have a successful draft class in order to have a turnaround 2019 season.

Thanks to SB Nation’s Justin Melo, four names have popped up on my radar as prospects the Arizona Cardinals will have private meetings with. The four players include Texas A&M’s IOL Erik McCoy, Arizona State’s DL Renell Wren, TCU’s EDGE L.J. Collier, and Northern Colorado’s WR Alex Wesley.

The first on the list, Texas A&M’s interior offensive lineman Erik McCoy, is one of the top center/guard prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft. At just 21 years old, he’s a young prospect with an excellent track record as a pass blocker for the Aggies. He should be available at the top of the mid-rounds and will have his workout with the Cardinals soon, per Justin Melo.

The second, Arizona State’s defensive lineman Renell Wren is a familiar face to native Cardinals fans. At 6-4, 318-lbs Wren is a behemoth of an interior defensive line prospect with athletisism to boot. However, he wasn’t too productive at ASU as a pass-rusher — he compiled just four sacks during his tenure. Although as a run-stopper, Wren excelled and tallied 47 run-stops, per Pro Football Focus. He will meet with the Cardinals on April 1st, per Justin Melo.

The third on the list, TCU’s edge rusher L.J. Collier is one of the more intriguing prospects out of the bunch. He acted as a reserve for TCU for most of his four-year tenure but produced when he had the chance to do so.

The 6-2, 283-lb Collier had six sacks in 2019 and had an outside pressure in every 13.6 snaps, the 20th best rating amongst 2019 edge rushers per Pro Football Focus. He has a broad-ranged draft projection and had his private workout with the Cardinals recently, per Justin Melo.

Lastly, the fourth prospect is Northern Colorado’s wide receiver Alex Wesley; a small school prospect shooting up draft boards. Wesley is as athletic as they come, as he’s a three-time Big Sky Conference 400-meter dash champion at Northern Arizona. The 6-0, 190-lb receiver ran a 4.45 40-yard-dash and jumped a 38.5-inch vertical at the 2019 NFL Combine.

At Northern Colorado, Wesley caught 57 passes for 1005 yards and four touchdowns. Although he might not get drafted until the later rounds, he’s an intriguing small-school wide receiver with some solid speed. His meeting will be sometime soon in the future, per Justin Melo.
