Dontez Ford, San Diego Fleet
2019 stats: 15 receptions, 429 yards, 1 touchdown
Want to know an absurd stat? If you said yes, here it is; San Diego Fleet receiver Dontez Ford is averaging 29 yards per catch. Twenty. Nine.
The big-bodied 6-2, 210-pound receiver has made light work out of AAF cornerbacks during his five games played. But that his outstanding play doesn’t come as much of a surprise when you consider his ability to box-out defenders with size, run past them with long-speed, and win on 50/50 balls regularly. As you can see in the clip below, he also gives defenders head-aches when trying to figure out a way to stop him after the catch.
Dontez Ford beats perhaps the best corner in the AAF, Jamar Summers and Bercovici throws to him in time for Ford to beat more tackles for a 65-yard gain. Unfortunately, Ford was injured on the play pic.twitter.com/csG0odFgc0

And at just 25 years old, Ford still has a lot of room to grow. While he has dominated against AAF competition, he still needs to improve on his seperation abilities and could stand to add more to his route tree.
But, Ford’s positives far outweigh his negatives. The Arizona Cardinals would be wise to take a look at the young playmaker that has flashed the potential to be a true outside receiver. Due to his youthful age, he could be viewed as an interesting developmental prospect as well.
