Along with the Titans, the Arizona Cardinals showed an interest in University of Pittsburgh wide receiver Rafael Araujo-Lopes.

Per Zach Hicks of SB Nation and DraftWire, the Arizona Cardinals were impressed by once JUCO prospect Rafael Araujo-Lopes during his pro-day and are showing interest in him.

During his March 20th Pittsburgh pro-day, Araujo-Lopes impressed with his athleticism. His numbers include a 4.45 40-yard-dash, 36-inch vertical, 125-inch broad jump, and a 6.78-second three-cone-drill; all numbers that would put him towards the top of the combine performances for wide receivers.

Due to his 5-9, 190-pound stature, Araujo-Lopes is expected to see time as a slot receiver if he were to land a spot in the NFL. At Pitt, the receiver caught 83 passes for 947 yards and six touchdowns.

In 2018, Araujo-Lopes primarily saw his action out of the slot but thrived in the role. Per Pro Football Focus, he was targeted 48 times in the slot in 2018 and caught 32 passes for 347 yards. His passer-rating, when thrown to in the slot, was a healthy 115.5. However, in a deep receiver class, those numbers might not get him drafted.

Due to his lower draft stock, but solid pro-day performance, Araujo-Lopes should be available in the latter half of the draft, particularly in the sixth or seventh rounds. The Arizona Cardinals have a need at wide receiver so don’t be surprised to see Steve Keim give Araujo-Lopes a shot.
