The Arizona Cardinals have been able to add depth in free agency and have in a couple of cases, filled a huge need but needs still exist

Only 25 more days until the NFL Draft for the Arizona Cardinals.  Thankfully all the mock draft predicting and chatter about who will go where will end.

It seems like it has been a long offseason so far for the Cardinals.  In some sense it has.  Sure, we’re now three calendar months removed from the end of the 2018 season.  But now maybe the longest 25 days to go.

With the first round of the draft coming up on Thursday April 25th, apparently the Cardinals have already told Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray they plan on taking him with the number one pick.

It gives me a headache to talk about that so moving on, the Cardinals do have other real needs they must address April 25-27.  Both sides of the ball still need attention.

On offense, they have done a good job of adding depth on the offensive line, so it is an area they don’t necessarily need to pay great attention to in the draft but with 10 picks on the board right now, it would be prudent to pick one or two up.

Tight end seems to still have a hole in it.  We don’t know how free agent Charles Clay will pan out and there are a couple of really good tight ends at Iowa they could look at.

Running back is alright for now.  However the receiving additions made in free agency should leave the position still open to more bodies.

On defense, the defensive line seems to be where it is going to be at.  Everyone talks about how the Cardinals still need to improve their pass rush.  They need to add on the interior of the line though.

Inside linebacker could still use attention in the draft.  They signed Jordan Hicks but his injury history should tell you that you shouldn’t rely on him alone.

Next. Cardinals looking to mimic draft success. dark

Cornerback does seem to be set for now, so maybe going after safeties in the draft would be more prudent.  They could always add a young corner though and build him up over the next couple of years.
