Don’t trade the number one pick unless it is a major haul in return

As much as many of us believe the Cardinals don’t need quarterback Kyler Murray in Arizona, the fact is it is still Kyler Murray.  If the plan is truly to hold onto Josh Rosen, the pick should really be used on a defensive lineman and not moved.

Now, if they get an offer they just can’t refuse, like maybe they’ve decided to hang onto Rosen, and can get a later pick in the first and more picks in this draft, then the team should think it through.

If the plan is to hold onto Rosen, still don’t trade the pick down unless it is the number two through five picks.  The top defensive linemen like Nick Bosa and Quinnen Williams will both be gone.

This is a draft that will make or break Steve Keim, Arizona Cardinals general manager.  The Cardinals still need to add depth in a number of areas but did get some help in free agency.

The number one pick doesn’t come around often.  However let’s hope the Cardinals aren’t in this same position again for a very long time.
