The Arizona Cardinals 2019 schedule was released last Wednesday with one national television game on the docket

It should come as no surprise to anyone.  The Arizona Cardinals will play 16 games, eight at home and eight on the road in 2019.  That much can’t be debated.

What can be debated is how the Cardinals will fare game by game this upcoming season.  They start with three of four at home and end with three of five at home.

Week 1 – Detroit Lions

Sunday September 8, 2019 – 1:25 p.m.

The Cardinals will be playing the Lions for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.  Only in 2016 did the two not meet since 2012.  This will be the second season in a row the Lions have come to Glendale but the second time in three seasons they open the season against one another.

Hopefully this year, the Cardinals will keep running back David Johnson healthy past the season opener.  The last time these two met in the season opener it was in Detroit.

We won’t know who will be quarterback yet but that shall be determined next week.  Either way, this is a game the Cardinals can win.

Let’s just hope they don’t come out like they did in last season’s opener at home against the Washington Redskins and flop when they put up just six points in the loss.  Scoring more than three like they did last year against the Lions will help too!

History: Lions lead 33-28-5

Last time: December 9, 2018 – Lions 17 Cardinals 3

Prediction: Cardinals 20 Lions 13
