Top 100 players in Arizona Cardinals franchise history: 90-81
By Scott Allen
#85 Adrian Murrell
Murrell played two seasons with the Cardinals in 1998 and 1999. This was after five seasons with the New York Jets.
Murrell was a huge part of the Cardinals first playoff run in the desert in ’98. He rushed for over 1,000-yards, finishing at 1,042-yards for the season.
Adding to his rushing yardage were eight touchdowns that season. That was a career high for him, with his previous high of seven being reached with the Jets just the year before heading west.
He also caught 18 passes for 169-yards and two touchdowns in that ’98 playoff season. He scored a postseason touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys in a 20-7 victory on the road in the NFC Wild-Card game.
His role changed a bit the following season. He didn’t have as many rushing opportunities, 81 fewer to be exact. He became more of a threat in the passing attack, catching 49 passes that year.
