Top 100 players in Arizona Cardinals franchise history: 80-71
By Scott Allen
#74 Ken Greene
Green played five seasons for the Cardinals in St. Louis from 1978-1982. The strong safety was drafted in the first round (19th overall) out of Washington State University.
He had his best season in the NFL and with the Cardinals in 1981. He played his last two seasons with the San Diego Chargers in 1982 and 1983.
In that ’81 season, Greene had seven interceptions for 111-return yards, which was good for seventh in the NFL that season. He also had a fumble recovery, one of three he had during his time with the Cardinals.
He also contributed three interceptions in 1979 and four in 1980. He made the NFL All-Rookie Team with the Cardinals in 1978.
For his career, Greene finished with 15 interceptions. The Cardinals no doubt could have used a guy like Greene over the past several years given his production. As it is, that one season in ’81 he was a free safety when he was at his best.
