The Arizona Cardinals will see all three draft pick rookie receivers play in same game for first time

Last week we got to see Arizona Cardinals rookie receivers KeeSean Johnson and Hakeem Butler play.  Andy Isabella had to sit out due to an injury he was nursing.

This week, Isabella will get his first NFL action.  Johnson played alright but needs to learn from his mistakes, like the big one he had for stepping out of bounds and coming back in and being the first to touch a pass.

Butler, even with Isabella’s absence, likely has the most work to do.  He missed a wide open pass that he flat out dropped.  He was not covered very well and it bounced right in and out of his hands.

He will need to make sure he catches the easy ones against the Raiders.  Too many more of those could put him on a bubble come cut time, draft pick or not.

There is a lot of competition in that receiver room.  The Cardinals already know they are going to have to make some tough cuts.

They easily have 10 receivers on the roster that can make a case for making this team.  Unfortunately they will only carry seven at the most and that’s still a big question mark.

If they go with all three of the rookie draft picks, then a couple of the veterans will be gone come September.  These guys will have to show in games this week against the Raiders and next week against the Minnesota Vikings they are better options than guys like Chad Williams, Kevin White, and Damiere Byrd.

We will see what happens on Thursday night against the Raiders.  If all three show up and play well, then the spotlight will fall squarely on the veteran receivers to do their thing or start packing their bags for new destinations.
