The Arizona Cardinals will have a different look on the defensive line going into 2019

A different look for the Arizona Cardinals this season on the defensive line.  That tends to happen when you change from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense.

Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph brings his 3-4 defense to the Cardinals, moving Chandler Jones off the line and back to his linebacker position.

The defensive line has been a group in transition the entire preseason and training camp.  Their top two free agents they signed on the line are already gone.

Darius Philon had an arrest in May stemming from a gun incident with a woman and was subsequently let go when it came to light in August.  Terrell McClain was cut after not playing well.

So who exactly do the Cardinals have on the defensive line this year?  There is still some excitement what the future holds on the line.

LDE: Zach Allen, Michael Dogbe, Jonathan Bullard

Allen was a third round pick out of Boston College.  He was thrust into the starting role after the releases the Cardinals had to make.  However he appears to be the real deal and should be exciting to watch.

Dogbe wasn’t originally projected to make the team.  However he had himself a very nice preseason and earned his spot on the line.

NT: Corey Peters, Miles Brown

Peters is the constant on the line.  He’s had his ups and downs trying to stay healthy but even with that he managed to play 15 games in 2018.  He had 2.5 sacks last season.

RDE: Rodney Gunter, Clinton McDonald

Gunter is already entering his fifth season as a Cardinal.  He by far has his best season as a professional in 2018.  He played in all 16 games, starting 10 of them.  He had 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Despite the best pass rushers moving behind the line, there are still high expectations for this group to put pressure on the opposing quarterbacks.  This will be a fun group to watch on Sunday’s.
